More Cole-isms

Lately I find myself wishing I had a notebook on hand at all times to write down the things Cole says. Unfortunately, even if I had such a notebook there are still times when it just wouldn't work. For example, in the car today I was cracking up at a bunch of stuff he was saying, but I just can't write and drive at the same time. Sure enough, by the time we got home, I couldn't remember what he'd said.

With that in mind, however, I want to record a few of the funny things he has said lately that I do remember:

Lately he's obsessed with the number twenty (and any number that begins with it - so really, he's obsessed with 20 through 29). He has learned to count to twenty, so he thinks that it's the biggest number in existence. We've learned this fact because of things he says. For example, we went on a walk on Sunday afternoon. On the way home, he said, "There are a lot of ways to get back to our house! You can go this way, or that way, or this way, or another way...there are twenty-eight ways to get to our house!"

Or, yesterday, after we picked up a bunch of trash on the road, Cole told Brian, "We picked up lots of trash today. We picked up twenty-one trash!"

Yes, indeed...if he uses the number twenty, you can pretty much mentally replace it with "infinite".

Another funny conversation happened between Weston and Cole on the way to the store today. Yes! That means I did remember something that happened in the car! Anyway, Weston still doesn't talk much, but he's picking up words quickly. Lately he's been trying to say "house", but it sounds more like "hhhow". Cole has taken upon himself the responsibility of instructing Weston in the finer points of pronunciation, and as we drove along in the car, Weston would point at a house and say, "hhhhow." Cole would get very agitated and say, "No, Weston! It's hou...sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssse. Hou...ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssse. I told you yesterday twenty-one times! It's hou...ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssse." Upon which Weston would point at another house and innocently say, "Hhhhow."
