Cole just drew this picture and told me the accompanying story:

"Once there was a battery. It attached its cord to a pumpkin, and then something strange happened! Electricity started to fly out of the pumpkin! The end."

Spelling Bee

Well, actually, this is kind of a reverse spelling bee. Except with incorrect spelling. Let me explain...

Cole has been learning to write words by sounding them out and writing them down the way they sound to him. This results in a lot of really funny words getting written down on random pieces of paper around the house. We've been collecting our favorites, and now, for the entertainment of our blog readers, we offer the following challenge:

Cole-isms

Cole-ism #1:

Cole: Momma, I'm going to tell you a joke.

Me: Okay.

Cole: Knock knock.

Me: Who's there?

Cole: Banana.

Me: Banana who?

Cole: (mutters something unintelligible)

Me: What?

Cole: (still unintelligible)

Me: What?

Cole: (still unintelligible...in his defense, there was some loud music interfering with my hearing)

Me: WHAT???

Cole: (very put out) C'mon Momma! You're supposed to laugh!!

(Later I found out what he'd been saying...BANANA BATHTUB. He tells really funny jokes.)


Cole-ism #2

We were in the car listening to the kids' favorite CD, which has a collection of nursery rhymes and fairy tales on it. The following nursery rhyme came on, which you're probably familiar with:

What are little boys made of?
What are little boys made of?
Snakes and snails and puppy dogs' tails
That's what boys are made of.

Keep in mind Cole has heard this a million times. For some reason, this time he was paying particular attention. After the line "snakes and snails and puppy dogs' tails" he burst out, "WHAT?!? I thought we were made of skin and hair!"

The Crazy Life

I was on the phone with my sister yesterday and she said, "Karene, it seems like you always take on big life changes about when you're going to have a baby." She has a good point. When I was 36 weeks pregnant with Cole, Brian graduated from USU and we moved from Logan to California. Nothing earth-shattering happened around Weston's birth, but we moved to Virginia when I was just finished with my first trimester of this pregnancy. In the meantime, we've been debating our future, and we've finally decided that we're going to stay in Virginia for awhile. As a result, we've been doing some house hunting. About a week ago, we found a house we really like and made an offer on it. It's a short sale, so it could be awhile before we know what will happen with it, but today the owner accepted our offer (finally!) and supposedly now it's going to the bank for approval. Depending on how things work out, we could be closing on the house within a few weeks of when Baby Girl is due, and moving shortly thereafter. I don't really plan things this way, but for some reason life changes all tend to come at the same time for us. Wish us luck...mostly with being patient while all this gets figured out!
