House Update

Well, we may have shattered some kind of record. The bank approved our short sale 9 days (count 'em, NINE) after our offer was submitted. A family in our ward just got theirs approved after nine MONTHS. So we count ourselves lucky! Even though we're supposed to close on May 3rd, a mere 8 days after baby girl is due. Luckily, we can be sure she won't be overdue as we have induction scheduled for April 22nd. And our current lease is up May 31st, so we'll have some time to make the move. ANYWAY.

After some headache we got the home inspection completed today, and the house has a clean bill of health! A few minor repairs are needed, but nothing serious.

Home ownership, here we come!!

Look at you guys all grown up -- a family of five and a house of your own. Wow. One day we'll be as cool as you (we're half way there!)

Oh my gosh - I was just looking at the calendar and realized that the 22nd is next Thurs! For some reason when we were talking it didn't register that Briquette would be here THAT soon. Very exciting.
Let's see, once you have the house and the three kids I think the only thing left to do is to become a mini van mommy : )

Wow, I think you did break a record!!! That's awesome! It sounds like everything is really coming together nicely, and not having to be out of the townhome until the end of May will be such a big help. If you pop out your little girl actually on the 22nd, she'll be exactly 6 months younger than Logan. That's so soon!!

Is Briquette going to be the baby's name? And what are you going to do about a car? Squeeze for now? If you do, my advice is to put baby on a side, not in the middle, next to the older child who will poke and "love" her the least :)

Feel all grown up yet? Super exciting!! Congrats!

Briquette is a joke--Kirk and Jamie love to suggest names for our babies. They really wanted us to name Weston Blade. Or Brick. Thus Briquette was the name of choice for the girl. :)

There will definitely be some squeezing going on in the car until we're forced to buy another one. We're really hoping Brian's car will hold out for awhile until we can get past the current major purchase. I'm not relishing the thought of cramming all three kids in the back of the Camry, though. Thanks for the tip about putting the baby by the bigger kid though, I think I had thought about putting her on the side and not the middle, but I probably would have put her next to Weston. Not a good idea.

I'm trying not to be too cranky right now about the house purchase. About 10 seconds after I made this blog post I got a call from our realtor with yet another obstacle in our path. Without bothering to elaborate, I'll just say that we're making up for the quick bank approval in pain inflicted by the seller and her idiotic agent. I think the sale will still go through, but they're sure not making it a smooth process. Oh well.

That was Karene, by the way. Not that it really matters. :)

Okay, whew. I'm glad Briquette is a joke. I almost said something sarcastic and then figured I better not because I'd really be sticking my foot in my mouth if it was really her name!

Of course, reigning in my sarcasm is never a bad thing, so the practice was good for me :)

Good luck with the seller and her agent! It didn't happen with us because our sellers really wanted to be out of the house, but I have heard from other short sale buyers that their sellers were an absolute pain. I think it's because a seller can live in a house for 12 months payment free if they're in the process of a short sale (at least, that's my understanding). Can you believe that? I think it's ridiculous! When we were looking, there were a bunch of houses that would come on the market as a short sale, but all inquiries were ignored. I think they just wanted to live there for a year longer for free. But with you saying the price of your house decreased before you made an offer, that's probably not the case. Whatever it is, I hope it gets resolved soon! It's a pain now, but it'll all be worth it later. Sorry for the massive comment. I should have just sent you an email :)

Briquette also makes a nice complement to the name Cole. Another option is to name her Charcoal.

About the car--we've done it with three kids in back for almost 2.5 years now. You may find the carseat configuration works best with baby in the middle--you'll just have to try different things and see. For us it's been a matter of figuring out which carseats fit together best, not which kids:-) We have always had the baby in the middle, but that was logistics as much as anything.
I love the house--it's exactly the kind I would look for! Karene, I'm sorry we got cut off on the phone last night--I'll try calling again soon!

Have you heard anything more on the short sale? We're sure hoping it will go through soon without any more hitches!
