I willingly accepted this tag from my mission buddy, Becky, because I thought it was really fun to read what she had to say on this. So here goes...
What was I doing 10 years ago?
I had just started my junior year at Utah State University and was living in Continental Apartments, probably one of the most fun places to live for USU students. I made some of my greatest friends there. In addition to school, I was working part-time in the clothing department at ShopKo. (Thankfully within a couple of months I found a much better job at an obstetrics office in Logan). If I remember correctly, it was just a couple of months before my brother, Brent, moved in two doors down. Within a few weeks of moving in, he had started dating his future wife, Anissa (also living at Continental) and they were married by the following June. Wow! Brent and Anissa, are you really coming up on your 10 year anniversary? Congrats!! Speaking of Brent and Anissa, they are moving from Houston, TX to California in January! We are SO stoked to have them living so much closer to us.
What was I doing 5 years ago?
Back at Utah State--it had been a year and a half since I finished my mission in Poland. It was my last year at USU, I was on track to graduate with my bachelor's degree in Psychology and was planning to continue with my Master's Degree in Physician Assistant studies at the University of Utah. I had completely given up the idea of meeting "Mr. Right" while attending USU, because at the ripe old age of 24 years, most of the guys I met were either younger than me or already married. Well, they say when you least expect it...sure enough, within a couple of months I met Brian, and by the following August we were married. (As a side note, he IS younger than me, but hey, we like it that way!!) So, at this point 5 years ago I was pretty discouraged about life, but things got much, MUCH better quickly. I did graduate in May and then stayed in Logan 2 years longer than anticipated, working at Early Head Start while Brian completed his Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
What was I doing 1 year ago?
Ooh, this was a fun time for us. I had just run my first 10K race--a big accomplishment as I'd spent the first 28 years of my life swearing that running is the worst form of torture. Brian and I started running together last August and suddenly discovered the joy! The fact that we live a mile from the beach and get to run by the ocean might have helped a little in changing my mind. :) So, I'd completed my first 10K and also had just lost my last couple of pounds of baby weight. (Of course, I got pregnant again the next month. Oh well, here we go again...) Also, we were gearing up for our first big vacation together--a Mexican Riviera cruise! A few days after Thanksgiving we left Cole with my parents and spent 7 days on a cruise ship. It was fun, and I'm glad we did it. I discovered, however, that cruising really isn't my thing. Glad we did it, but probably won't choose to do it again anytime soon. Brian disagrees--he'd do it again in a heartbeat. Well, we'll have to work that one out next time we have money to burn (which gives us lots of time!).
What was I doing yesterday?
Yesterday morning I went for a run with my friends Jamie and Sarah. I returned home to find that my super-husband, Brian, had cleaned the entire house so that I didn't have to! What a fabulous guy! I worked on my Sharing Time lesson in the afternoon, cleaned out the car in preparation for our Thanksgiving travels, and cooked dinner. Our friends Kirk and Jamie Carpenter came over after the kids went to bed and we played Boggle and Turbo Cranium. We also performed a scientific experiment on Care Bear shaped marshmallow. It was really funny, we even videotaped the experiment, but it was kind of late at night and I suspect that regular people viewing this blog at a normal time of day wouldn't think it was nearly as funny as we did, so I'll refrain from posting the video clip. It reminded me of being silly in college again though, which was a fun little trip down memory lane.
5 Places I would rather be:
You know, I'm actually pretty darn happy where I am right now. But I am pretty jealous of my little brother, Devin, who has been touring Europe lately and has been ALL OVER THE PLACE. He might even visit Poland in the next few days, and if he does, I will probably turn green with envy. I think he's in Greece at the moment.
The only other place I can say I'd rather be is in bed, which is where I'm going to be the second I finish up here...
5 Treats I love:
Graham crackers with milk
Cheesecake with cherry topping
Cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting
Ginger cookies
Peanut butter M&Ms
What I would do with a million dollars:
Okay, I've just got to say, I was looking at Becky's response, and she listed a bunch of things, ONE of which was "buy a big, beautiful home." Well, I just have to say that if we wanted to buy a home here in Southern California, a million dollars might get us a decent three or four bedroom house. A million dollars would be a decent down payment on a "big, beautiful" home. Oh well. I would buy that big, beautiful home somewhere else!! What would I do with a million dollars? First, I'd pay off our car and student loans, then, I'd probably either invest in a home (maybe here, maybe not) or do some other kind of investments. I think I'd try really hard to avoid the temptation to spend it right away.
5 favorite TV shows:
Hmm. We hardly ever watch TV. When it's American Idol season, we watch American Idol, though I'm not sure we will again this season. I'm kind of losing the love. If we watch TV, it's usually either Family Feud or Who Wants to be a Millionaire. But I don't know if I'd go around raving that they're my favorite shows...speaking of game shows though, I used to love Price is Right but now that Bob Barker's gone, it's not the same. I watched one half-episode with Drew Carrey and switched off the TV in disgust. Oh well, I guess Bob had to retire sometime! For those of you who don't know, though, my friend Brooke and I did go to a taping of the Price is Right before Bob's retirement.
Most Memorable Things right now:
Being a mom is fabulous. I am just really enjoying the moment. I'm enjoying having another baby around much more than I expected. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming holiday season and to establishing some of our own family holiday traditions. Life is good!!
People I am tagging:
Whoever wants to! I thought this was a fun way to blog, and would love to read anyone's take on theirs, so let me know if you decide to pick it up and run with it!

I'm just trying to see if there's a way I can figure out what I was doing ten years ago...if I can, I'll add to my blog! If not, prepare me for the Alzheimer's Unit.
I'm MUCH younger than my older sister so I was able to remember 10 years ago . . . no problem. heheheh
My response is posted to my blog.
That was way fun to read--thanks for sharing! What part of So. California do you live in? We just got a job offer for LA so if you know the area, I'd love to pick your brain about good places to look for housing. Sadly we're not in the market for any kind of house, let alone a "big, beautiful" one :) but will still be in an apt./condo for a while longer. But we're really excited about living there for a little while! See my most recent post for more details. :)
