Look what I just spotted in a web at the back of our shed:
Yep. I think this is the first time I've actually seen one, and I'll tell you one thing--the spider love around here has come to an abrupt end.
(Oh, and in case you were wondering, the photo isn't mine...no way I was going close enough to this thing to take a picture!)

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!!!!! You're gonna start praying for protection from the spiders too, just you watch.
That is really gruesome. I still have yet to see one myself, and I know I don't ever want to.
I've seen plenty of them through the years. How did you miss out? Our worst experience was when we lived in an old house shortly after we were married. It had one of those dirt cellars in the basement--with an inside access. There were tons of black widows there! We had a massive execution! I was never comfortable there, though, and knew we had to move before Brent and Bart became mobile.
we had one in our our second place when we were in a basement house and it was down on the window where there are those window box things, what ever they are called anyway it was in our bedroom window and our bed was up against the window and until we could get it since the deck was above the window we had to sleep with it right there by our heads, it was a bit creepy to say the least. now we live in ABQ and there anre trantuals here. josh saw one the other day! i hate spiders!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
