A few days ago a friend of mine who regularly posts her thoughts about Proposition 8 posted a link to a website that has captured my attention. I've spent a good chunk of time over the last couple of days reading every post on this blog. It's fascinating, eye-opening, mind boggling, and inspirational. It's a blog by a gay man who is a faithful, practicing member of the LDS Church and has decided to live a celibate lifestyle, and who is very candid about his experiences, thoughts, and feelings as a gay member of the Church. Click here to visit his blog.
The controversy over Proposition 8 has had innumerable effects on the people of California. Some brush it off as "not their issue" to worry about, but many find themselves splitting one way or the other...either siding with the gay community or the "traditional" community. Unfortunately, in a lot of cases the forces that drive us to take sides one way or another also leaves us full of stereotypes and prejudices. I have been watching myself, trying to make sure that as I campaigned for traditional marriage I didn't let myself become prejudiced against gays. However, I didn't realize until I read Clint's blog how little I understood and how much mind-opening there was to be done.
Anyway, for the record, at this moment I find myself more compassionately dispositioned toward those with same-sex attraction than I ever have before in my life. And I hope it continues to become more so. I hope you'll take some time to visit his blog...I think you'll be glad you did.

Okay, we definitely have to talk about this sometime. Maybe tomorrow running. While I think Clint is very funny, I think he's exaggerating the arguments people make for Prop 8. Or, if there are people who make those arguments for prop 8, then they are extremely misled. But like I said, we can talk :)
I think Clint's blog will make great conversation for our run tomorrow, let's do it! Just so you know though, I'm guessing your issues are with his post titled "My Secret Gay Agenda". Just so you know, of all the posts of his I read, that was the only one that didn't settle as well with me, and it was also the first post of his I read. I think that if you read more of his stuff, especially the earlier stuff where he does a lot of explaining himself and his stance, you'll understand it better. But yes, let's talk about it tomorrow.
