Discovery

While reading a friend's blog the other day, I discovered a really, really cool website. A lady in Utah has developed a business of helping people build up their "practical" food storage (the stuff your family actually eats on a regular basis) by comparing ads from five major grocery stores and e-mailing out a list of the best deals for the week so you can stock up on items when they're really cheap. In addition, she sends a shopping list, a weekly meal plan based on the deals of the week, and recipes. It's pretty fantastic.

In addition to all this, the website is packed with awesome information. There's a section of free downloads, which includes a food storage inventory sheet, meal planning tips and a cooking calendar, food storage recipes, a one-year supply guide, info on 72-hour kits...there's just a ton of awesome stuff. Also, I recommend you check out the associated blogs as well...for those click here and here. Such great info!

When I first saw it I thought, bummer. Looks like a great thing if you live in Utah! Then I found out that they are just starting to expand into Nevada and Southern California. And for the first few weeks of their expansion, they're offering their service for free! Even once they get established, the service is only $5 per month.

So, I thought I'd share. Check it out, you'll be impressed.

That does sound like it could be useful, but I'm probably too lazy to properly benefit. Then again, I thought I was too lazy to properly benefit from the yogurt maker, but two years later I'm making yogurt once a week. By the way, I tried using 1% and the regular yogourmet starter (shoot! I should have sent some of the starters with Mom and Dad today), and the results are good...not as good as the whole milk, but certainly preferable to store bought yogurt for me.
In response to the last post, you know I have to..."Hey! That's cool!"

Angie, I knew someone would, and it's only appropriate that it would be you. :)

I am so glad you're enjoying the benefits of the Yogourmet. I've got to try another batch.

Hey Andrew, we'd love to see you guys sometime. My parents are still in St. George so maybe we can meet up when we're there. I'll be in touch.

I love the "stuff your family actually eats"! We've really been working at stocking up on the practical stuff. Which, I do believe, can include chocolate chips. Yikes! Did I just admit that? To redeem myself, I do grind wheat every week to make my bread with! :)
