Home Decorating

We do look forward to the time when we can own a home and decorate it just the way we want to. However, today sealed the deal...Cole will not be a consultant OR do any of the labor when that time comes. Why? Well, not just because he's 2 years old (and thus inexperienced). He showed me a sample of his work today and I'm just not very impressed. Imagine my horror when I walked into the bathroom and saw this...

I have to say I'm just proud of myself for not losing my temper, and for having the presence of mind to take a few pictures. I was on the phone with Tamarie at the time so maybe that helped (it's harder to scream at your kids when someone's listening). In any case, it's NOT FUN trying to scrape red fingernail polish off every surface in your bathroom! I did put him to work to clean it up...

Check out the body paint! He didn't really enjoy the process of scrubbing it off his skin, so maybe that will deter him in the future.

Nice work, Cole. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH. And in case you're wondering--no, it's not coming off very well. I guess we can be thankful we don't own this house.

That's pretty funny (although I am sure it doesn't seem so much so to you!)

My rule of thumb was always....if it is too quiet for too long, you can be guaranteed that something is amiss!

hehehehehe!

It's true. This event was preceded by a very lengthy quiet time. I'm sure being on the phone didn't help either, he knew I was distracted and had been trying to get my attention in all kinds of unpleasant ways before he disappeared.

Oh, Karene, I so feel for you. She seriously did a wonderful job--she didn't lose her temper a bit. Good luck cleaning it up!

Oh, the joys of parenting! It really is funny! And, it's great fun being the grandparent who doesn't have to clean it up. I talked with Grandma Gehring a couple of days ago and somehow we got talking about how Taylor and Olivia decorated her front room. She's still laughing about it...somehow the perspective is different from the "older and wiser!" I think it has something to do with not worrying about the quiet...with not having to wonder what they are doing when they're not at our house! :)

I don't think I would have reacted quite so well as you did, karene! Good job. So how do you get that off? Fingernail polish remover???

Some fingernail polish remover, yes...also, the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work, and the abrasive sides of the sponges. And it's a work in progress. We didn't have enough time to get it all off today, so I'm off to buy more cleaning supplies tomorrow and then I'll see if I can wrap up this job. There's still a lot of fingernail polish in the tub and on the floor. I do think he has figured out that this wasn't a good choice, though. :)

WOW!!! I probablly would have beaten my child for that, i definately would not have kept my cool. I have things kinda like that happen all the time with Justice and I lose it so I know I would freak out if it happened here!! Gotta love the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers though!!!!
Jett had his first taste of baby rice cereal on Sunday and is not quit sure about it either. More ends up on his bib than in his mouth. I actually posted him eating it yesterday on our blog. good luck with the MESS and glad you are back!

I would have died, Karene!! I can't believe that, I guess every kid has to have one really bad episode!
