If you haven't seen this movie, you're missing out....
Many thanks to my sister-in-law, Lisa, for introducing me! I am baffled as to why this movie is not better known than it is. I can say without exaggeration that it is one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's based on the book North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell, also a highly recommended read. If you are a fan of Jane Austen, you will love this book and movie. Brian gave me the movie for Valentine's Day and probably regrets it to some degree...Mr. Thornton gives Mr. Darcy and Mr. Knightley a run for their money(yes, I'm swooning). :) Be warned that this movie is four hours long, and isn't all light-hearted...there's some good drama and some sad parts...but it's worth every single second (you'll feel like it was over in an hour). If you watch it, let me know what you think!

Um, I own that movie! Along with the new bbc's Jane Eyre (my fave!) and all the new bbc Jane Austens...what would we do without these??? I tell Joe they are great because they make me more in love with him! :) I don't know what it is about a good romance (sorry Fool's Gold--you do NOT qualify) that makes you love your own! :)
Just found the movie this year too! Loved it -- much deeper plot than others of the same kind.
Thanks again for sharing this one with me. I had so much fun watching it. I am still swooning over Mr. Thornton:)and now I can't wait to read the book.
Bart enjoyed it too...when he finally sat down to watch it. We love the filming of this movie and well, the end is truly one of the best!
Back in the 80's North and South was on TV as a miniseries (I'm pretty sure it's the same version) and Jennie and Angie fell in love with it! I remember Angie had a big crush on the one character named Aury (sp?) I think he was played by Patrick Swayze or someone who looks like him.
